Lehigh’s CCPD is excited to launch a Pilot Digital Badge Program that represents the next generation of career and professional learning and experiential learning recognition for Lehigh students. Digital badges provide Lehigh students the opportunity to learn, apply and gain recognition for the knowledge and skills that employer partners expect.
This pilot is only available to 100 first, sophomore and junior students from each of the undergraduate colleges (College of Arts & Science, College of Business, and P.C. Rossin College of Engineering) who sign-up (more information below). The program opens an exciting and intentional pathway for students to bridge their co-curricular experiences with their academic accomplishments in a manner that promotes visibility to employers.
Why a Lehigh sophomore should participate
Students who earn these badges are:
Students improve career awareness and goal planning for future success
Students develop employability skills through an intentional and rigorous experience
Students who add badges on their LinkedIn profile get 6x the views
Students gain a better narrative about their skills to demonstrate in interviews
Students build their network and portfolio of work in their field
Logistics of the Digital Badging Program
Through a collaborative partnership with Pearson Education’s Career Success Program, CCPD will utilize a digital platform to provide students with increased access to instruction, information, and strategies for choosing and pursuing a desired career path.
Students will have seven months to earn a Career Design Digital Badge. The badge provides access to a roadmap that helps students explore and understand where they want to go, how they're going to get there, and what they need to do to stand out from the crowd. For an overview of the curriculum to be covered in each milestone click on the following link.
During this time CCPD will engage with the 300 students through a self-guided model and at least three required check-in points though CCPDs Career Lab.
Three ways to earn your badge:
1. Tackle each milestone month by month (each milestone can take up to an hour and a half between assigned readings and activities).
2. Group it into sections (Discover, Develop, Demonstrate) - timing will vary for each section from 2.5 hours to 4 hours.
3. Complete the whole module (roughly 12 Hours of work) over winter break.
The career lab and team are available to support students.
